Sticky Buns Adapted for thermomix:- ( dough fills two large cake tins)
Still using the thermomix on average 4-5 times a day, slushies every day, ( instead of iceblocks) chopping onion, garlic and ginger, steaming veg, mashing potatoes, making salads and coleslaws, making dips, dressings, breads, pizza, focaccia, or pita. Like having a helping pair of hands in kitchen. Has added so much variety to our food. Haven’t added photos of food cooked on previously. But couldn’t resist posting the cinnamon buns because they’re so good and only three minutes kneading with the thermomix. Recipe from the Annabelle Langbeins free range cookbook. Even though me and husband are trying to reduce gluten we succumb to a cinnamon bun because the smell of these baking is so appetising! And the recipe makes enough dough for two baking tins, one is always saved in fridge for ham and cheese or vegemite and cheese scrolls the following day.

Pikelets for morning tea. Loving the guided recipes on the thermomix. You don’t have to think, just follow the instructions and feel confident the result will be tasty and fairly foolproof. Just have to make sure you’ve checked the page of minor corrections to some of the recipes but to gave access to over 170 guided recipes is fantastic, hope they bring out more recipe chips in future. .

Must admit I’ve not made meringues before but my daughter has and I’ve been told the thermomix produces a great meringues. Found the recipe on the recipe community and had to give it a go. Three egg whites were whipped in two minutes and then slowly added the sugar.

They looked like meringues before they were baked so crossed my fingers and we were not disappointed. They came out lovely after three hours at low heat. There was some crystalized sugar on the bottom of each meringue but my kids loved this. Googling the reasons for this, apparently could have been because I added the sugar too fast. So I put this down to ‘operator error’ and still give the TM5 a big tick. Meringues done! Crispy, light and with a good crunch factor. And still lovely and crisp next day for picnic lunch at the beach.

The leftover egg yolks were used to make strawberry icecream which is in the freezer right now. Pics to come tomorrow.

Catering Christmas lunch for 25., the thermomix saved so much time, and stress. From chopping onion and garlic, making 3 lots of bechamel sauce, boiling eggs, making salads, grating cheese, making sauces, making caster sugar and icing sugar and whipping cream. To be able to ‘prep’ and walk away from it while you carry on with some other task is it’s best feature. It’s like having an extra pair of hands in the kitchen

Great, three apples peeled and popped into the thermomix, minutes later, perfect apple sauce for the ham.

I boiled eggs for hot potato salad on stove but got distracted and left them too long, the bowl on the right shows my exploded eggs from the stovetop. Boiling a few extra in the thermomix, I could leave and a few minutes later perfect boiled eggs.

Thanks to the thermomix, Christmas cooking done and dusted, no dramas in the kitchen.

This is a pic of our chocolate brownie – the Masterchef ‘extreme brownies’ made today with thermomix. Recipe from the recipe community. With 92 positive ratings had to try the extreme brownie out. Lovely brownie, crunchy top and soft inside where chocolate pieces melted. Perfect with whipped cream or yoghurt. Will certainly be our go to recipe in future, lots of positive comments and we halved the sugar from 440g to 200g as suggested by a few members. Still sweet enough for our taste, definately didn’t want ‘extreme’ sweetness !

We don’t eat fudge around here but the 75 plus positive comments on the recipe community prompted me to make this recipe for caramel fudge. Again super easy, the thermomix does all the work, no stirring and no other bowls to clean and very delicious. Fantastic foolproof recipe, great for Christmas gifts.

So handy to have these for lunch boxes and snacks. Proving still takes more than an hour, will experiment with the yeast activation to see if this speeds up the rising.
Verdict after 12 days:
The thermomix has been used on average 5 times a day for simple tasks like chopping garlic and onion, creaming butter and sugar for baking, and chopping veges for salads, blending dressings and smoothies. Love how one piece of equipment does so much work so quickly, is so easy to clean, doesn’t require any set up and also how we don’t have to worry getting out any other appliances. I haven’t used my pressure cooker ,slow cooker, cake mixer, food processor or bread maker. Must admit though I would still keep a bread maker.
